Francis Skrine (reprinted by Terry Wise) A history of the battle of Fontenoy (with maps and desultory orders of battle) set in the midst of a general history of the Austrian War of Succession. The history is neither complete nor analytical, and the view point almost wholly on Britain's involvement (which is Skrine's stated target). You will not get the views you get from Browning or Anderson but as a snapshot of one nation's involvement it is an interesting work. The lack of military detail is likely to reduce its value to many, and we still need the English translation of Comte Pajol's Les Guerres sous Louis XV. More Book Reviews
