Napoleonic Courses by Mail

A remarkable distance education institution (what used to be called correspondence courses) is emerging as a leader in the field of military studies. American Military University, established in 1993, offers accredited graduate and undergraduate programs in military history (including Land Warfare), intelligence, and management. More than 200 courses, most with Ph.D. professors, are offered through a unique, personal method of directed, independent study.

Among the extensive course offerings are a number that study Napoleon, his era, and his impact on warfare and society. Additionally, several courses indirectly apply Napoleonic strategy and tactics to the art of war. Specifically, AMU courses include Napoleon the General, French Military History, Land Warfare from the 17th Century to the Present, and also Strategy, Tactics, and the Operational Art.

AMU operates three 15-week terms each year. The next term begins on May 4 followed by the Fall Term on September 7. For more information, see the ad on page 43, visit their home page at www.amunet.edu, or call the University Relations Office at 703-330-5398 extension 112.
