The early version was open-topped. Later versions were fully enclosed. The BTR-60 is still found in armies throughout the world. The basic design led to the development of newer more capable vehicles such as the BTR-70, BTR-80 and BTR-90. The BTR-90 has a 30mm autocannon, a coaxial machine gun, a grenade launcher and an AT-5 Spandrel antitank missile. A far cry from the basic BTR-60.
