Available from La Guelle, Mont Arrive, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 2AA, Channel Islands, GB. or 1599, Marview Drive, Westlake, Ohio, 44145 USA These figures are all one has come to expect from GF, excellent modelling and animation. I'm just embarking on a life size model for an exhibition about St. Columba, whose 1400th anniversary 1997 is and I really wish I had GF's designer to help me with the head and hands particularly!! The casting of these GF figures leaves nothing to be desired either, one or two bits of 'cobweb' veiling here and there, easily dealt with. I will list the figures, comment and then draw some, not to scale. Seven Years War RussiansMusketeers: Campaign order Wearing waistcoats, no coat or sword. RMC1 Attack march (5 variants). I've been sent all the variants. I don't know how the designer does it in this scale - the faces all look Russian! Their tricornes are all at different angles on their heads. One is shouting, one looks as if gunpowder smoke is getting up his nose. One has his head up, as if bracing himself. One has long locks of hair in front of his ears. The hat looks stolidly forward. In their waistcoats, usually red, they have a light troops look. All are posed with the right foot passing the left. Plains IndiansMounted Cheyenne Dog Soldiers. The Dog Society was one of many military, healing and secret societies of the Red Indian. CAV P111 Touch The Sky. A heavily muscled warrior with a spiked war club. CAV P112 Three Fingers. War bonnet, sash, lance. Bow and arrows on his back, feathered shield. John Galiano would just love his ensemble! CAV P113 Pawnee Killer. War bonnet and sash. Club, shield and breastplate too. CAV P114 Plenty Coups. Firing bow. This has a very Catlin* style head plus animation. * George Catlin "Letters and Notes on the Manners, Customs and Conditions of North American Indians", 2 volumes, Dover ISBN 0.486.22118.0. Republication 1974 of 1844 edition. CAV P115 Goes through the Camp. Revolver. He also has a huge club in his left hand. Mounted Young Braves. CAV P121 Wolf Looks Back. Firing bow. Small club hangs at his right, shield on his left. CAV P122 Goes Walking. Lance. A great mane of hair down his back. CAV P123 Bear Licks with Tongue. Selecting an arrow from his quiver, bow in left hand. CAV P124 Running Rabbit. Waving a tomahawk. Another with a mass of hair and braids. CAV P125 Little Crow. Trade musket. Muzzle slightly up - maybe just after the report. All of these are accompanied by excellent horses. HP11 2 variants, galloping pony.
These variations are in head up or down, legs bunched or flung out - feathered bridles, manes or tails. All these Indians have their counterparts on foot. All are recognisable save Bear Licks with Tongue(!) who has a large knife in his standing version. Number are:- Cheyenne Dog Soldiers on Foot. P111 Touch The Sky
Young Braves on Foot. P121 Wolf Looks Back
Having a counterpart horsed and or on foot can be very useful in skirmishes and small actions 1:1. GF turns out a set of rules, "Mystic Warrior" - complete versions cost £ 2.50 or $4.50 (if you are ordering figures.) Folded up in an envelope Rules only, cost £ 3 or $7. Also available on IBM Word 6 disk at same cost. From my own cursory glance they look good. Also very good is a rough guide to N.A. Indians - where they lived, weapons, warpaint - horse and face decoration etc. etc. also available from GF. [These figures paint up excellently and I look forward to more in this range. Kenn]. "Was-com-mun" (= Busy Man) will now draw some of these figures:- More Reviews
