25mm Three Musketeers

Reviewed by David Barnes

Available from 49 Channel View Road, Eastbourne, E. Sussex, BN22 7LN, UK.

Included in this range are figures requested by customers. If any more buckles are added to their swash I think they'll fall over - like the more bibulous Musketeers. Ah well, have at thee! These will help in new scenarios and could be useful in ECW too - or 30YW. Great detail and character as usual.

TM31 King's/Cardinal's Guard riding with pistol held up. (Use horse TMH1) Head, torso, legs, sword in scabbard all separate, so you can animate him to your own wishes.

TM32 King's/Cardinal's Guard advancing with halberd. To make the difference you simply paint up the tabard with appropriate devices. Separate head and sword in scabbard. The halberd is integrally cast.

TM33 "Mine Host" Tavern Keeper. Hands on hips, apron. "Here come those rascally wargamers again!" sort of expression on his face.

TM34 Bruiser/Bouncer/Ruffian standing with club. Could also be used as an ECW "clubman". Brawny arms, short sleeves.

TM35 Bruiser/Bouncer/Ruffian with shouldered club. Open waistcoat, voluminous sleeves, shaggy hair.

TM36 Cook/Scullery Maid with ladle. Mob cap, big apron - huge ladle - full of boiling oil to defend house with? Or Soup?

TM37 Scullery Maid/Serving Wench with loaded tray. Bearing in a chicken and other goodies. Mob cap and apron.

TM38 Barmaid with tankard. Tankards actually, one a stein with lid. Bosom of pin-up proportions. Long flowing hair. Steady D'Artagnan!

TM39 Barmaid with tray of tankards. Well, mine's just a tray. Carefully dressed hair, décolleté long dress.

TM40 Washerwoman stirring with club like pole. Before the days of washing machines women bashed their washing in a tub with a "dollie"; a club like pole cut across the ends in a cross, a couple of inches wide. My mum had one! [My Gran did as well].

TM41 Washerwoman walking with club like pole. Cap, apron, and "dollie" held like a club.

Mounted Musketeers!

TMX3, 4, 5 & 6 are £ 2.50 each a.t.o.w.

TMX3 Athos with sword held out on horseback. Head, torso, legs and scabbard separate. Nice cantering horse.

TMX4 Porthos riding with upright sword, on horseback. Horse galloping, flying mane and tail, pistols in holsters. Imagine - "Ride on my friends! I'll deal with these four poltroons!!" Well if Errol Flynn could do it…

TMX5 Aramis riding with sword at his side, on horseback. Horse, head up, pawing the ground. All parts for your own assembly as with the others.

TMX6 D'Artagnan charging with sword raised, on horseback. Sword in pronation. Horse is rearing - a good attempt at this difficult pose. I don't think it's as convincing as the others.

TMX7 ( £ 5.00) Gentleman and Lady seated at a table with maid and groom attendants. (Don't mix up "groom of the chamber" with "horse groom"). You get a big table with huge turned baluster legs. Two leather upholstered chairs in kits. A lady in a ruff and necklace, holding a long stemmed glass on a separate right arm. Gentleman, separate torso from legs, looking right, holding a different blown glass. A bowl of fruit and a pewter covered jug. The groom holds his master's plumed hat. The maid has lace collar and cuffs and has her hands holding a cloth - maybe having just removed it from the table and placed the fruit and wine. Excellent group.
