Engineers

ENGINEERS

Art. 66.

The Engineers are composed of a Staff Corps and 4 Companies:

Staff Corps
1 Colonel1 2nd Sergeant
1 Lieutenant Colonel4 Corporals
1 Major 8 Engineers
1 Adjutant 1st Captain 1 Marshal 1st Sergeant
1 Sub-Adjutant Lieutenant 1 Saddler 1st Sergeant
1 1st Sergeant ( Band ) 2 Mules
1 Corporal ( Band )
Each Company was composed:
1 1st Captain 17 Corporals
1 2nd Captain 3 Bandsmen
2 Lieutenants 127 Engineers
2 Sub-Lieutenants 1 Marshal 2nd Sergeant
1 1st Sergeant 9 Horses
7 2nd Sergeants 12 Mules
6 Engineers from the Company total of 127 are to be used as messengers.

Art. 67.

Each Company is divided into a Staff Corps and 3 Sections:

Staff Corps

    1 1st Captain
    1 2nd Captain
    1 1st Sergeant
    2 2nd Sergeant
    1 Marshal 2nd Sergeant
    1 Corporal
    1 Bugler
    3 Engineers ( Clerks )
    4 horses
    1 mule
1st and 2nd Sections composed as;
    1 Lieutenant
    2 2nd Sergeants
    7 Corporals
    1 Bugler
    56 Engineers = (5 Sappers,40 Engineers, 8 Conductors, 2 Stretcher-bearers, 1 Assistant)
    2 Horses
    3 Mules
3rd Section was composed of;
    1 Lieutenant
    1 2nd Sergeant
    2 Corporals
    12 Engineers ( 1 Sapper, 10 Conductors and 1 Assistant )
    1 Horse
    5 Mules
    ( the word Conductors "Conductores" would I believe have something to do with the Telegraph operators )

Art. 224.

In time of war the Engineers are increased by a Company, it's Staff Corps is increased by the addition of 1 Sub-Adjutant Sub-Lieutenant, 1x 2nd Sergeant ( clerk ), 3 Corporals ( clerks ) and one mule. Each company has an extra mule, while additions in each of the 1st and 2nd Sections are; 3 Workmen "Obreros", 10 Engineers, 5 mules. In the 3rd Section there are an additional 16 mules and 2 Watchmen "Conductores". It is tried to have a Company of Engineers with each Division.

General Park of Engineers

Art. 119.

The personnel of the Parque General de Ingenieros and it's Train Company on a peace footing is:

General Park of Engineers;
1 Colonel 2 Lieutenants
1 Lieutenant Colonel 1 Warehouse Guard
1 Major ( Chief of Detail ) 1st Sergeant ( Driver - "Trenistas" )
1 1st Captain 1 Watchman - Doorkeeper
1 2nd Captain 1 Corporal ( Driver )
55 Mules 12 Drivers 1st Class

Art. 120.

The personnel of the Company from the Park Train in time of peace are:

Pontoniers "Pontoneros"
1 1st Captain 43 Soldiers
3 Lieutenants 1 Marshal 1st Sergeant
1 1st Sergeant 1 Assistant
6 2nd Sergeants 8 Horses
9 Corporals 4 Mules
3 Buglers
Of the 43 Soldiers 2 are carpenters, 4 blacksmiths, 2 rope-makers, 2 caulkers and 4 are designated to assist.

Park "Parque"
1 Warehouse Guard 1st Class8 Drivers 1st Class
1 Park Guard 1st Class12 Drivers 2nd Class
1 Saddler 1st Sergeant 3 Horses and 80 mules

Telegraphist

Art. 121.

The personnel for the Company of Telegraphist are:

Staff Corps

    1 1st Captain of Engineers
    1 2nd Captain of Engineers, ( Chief of Detail )
    1 Sub-Adjutant, Sub-Lieutenant

1st Section 1 Telegraphist 1st Class
1 Telegraphist 2nd Class
1 Watchman "Celador" 1st Class

The Section has 4 Stations, each composed of;

    1 Telegraphist 2nd Class
    1 Telegraphist 3rd Class
    1 Watchman "Celador" 1st Class
    1 Watchman "Celador" 2nd Class
    4 Watchmen "Celadores" 3rd Class
    10 Watchmen "Celadores" 4th Class
    4 Mules to carry the equipment, and spare wire for the damaged lines.

2nd Section contains;

    1 Telegraphist 1st Class
    1 Telegraphist 2nd Class
    1 Watchman "Celador" 1st Class

This Section has 4 Stations, each one contains;

    1 Telegraphist 1st Class
    1 Telegraphist 2nd Class
    1 Watchman "Celador" 1st Class
    1 Watchman "Celador" 2nd Class
    2 Watchmen "Celadores" 3rd Class
    2 Watchmen "Celadores" 4th Class

From the Watchmen "Celadores" of the 3rd and 4th Classes in each Section, 12 are designated to assist with the Officers of their Section and the units Staff Corps.
