Map #1 shows the location of Sacken's, Yorck's, and Blucher's commands on February 9. Sacken had reached La Ferte-sousouarre near Trilport (Macdonald was also as far back as Trilport). Blucher was at Vertus awaiting reinforcements. Napoleon had achieved a perfect central position from which to strike at the separate columns of Blucher's Army of Silesia and defeat them in detail.
