Grenadier

25mm Medievals

review by Jay Hadley

Grenadier Models, P.O. Box 305, Springfield PA 19064, are best known for their offerings in the fantasy field has recently released a boxed set of knights and men-at-arms under their FANTASY LORDS line. Do not be fooled by the box cover, these are first rate, historically accurate figures with the research coming from various Funcken and Osprey books on the subject. The box contains one mounted knight, seven foot knights, and three men-at-arms. The men-at-arms are probably the most interesting grouping featuring some of the finest facial detailing you will see on a 25mm figure. The figure swinging a poleaxe (10A) is especially exciting with a separately cast shield which when attached appears to be slung on the back of the figure.

The foot knights consist of a variety of heavily armored types and includes some very fine detail and nice animation. The sword scabbards are cast separately as are the crests for the helmets which adds the possibility, of greater variety. Even the coats-of-arms on the shields are raised which when painted offers a dazzling effect.

For those who wish to purchase individual figures they are available from Grenadier Models @ $1.00 per foot figure. Highly recommended. RATING: Animation, 1.0, Anatomy, 1.0, Detail, 1.0, Casting Quality, 1.0, Range of Line, .6, Total: 4.6.
