review by Dick Bryant
Written by the author of SCENARIOS FOR WARGAMES, this book is as useful and is bound to be as popular as the first. In usual WRG format, it contains 141 pages. Mr. Grant puts forth a series of "programed" battle situations, 20 in all, (2 of which are mini-campaigns) that can be played solo. By "solo" I mean both the accepted wargaming sense of the word and the latest concept wherein there are several players but they all play on the same side ,'multi player solo gaming". All the scenarios can be played as standard games and are different from the first book. Each game lets you decide to be attacker, defender or either side in an encounter scenario, then programs you through troop selection, battle plans, order writing, etc. in such a way that you learn no more of your opponent's plans and dispositions than if he were really there. Your opponent's reactions are likewise programed to provide an unpredictable and realistic game. To further expand on possibilities, each map can be configured in 27 different ways. There is an infinite variety of game situations to betested here. A great way to perfect your latest tactic before hitting your life opponent with it. Available from THE COURIER (subscribers only) and better hobby shops. List Price is $22.50. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. More Reviews
