Starting at the times listed, Union troops enter the board in the following manner at the either of the Union Entry Zones. Any command figure will arrive on the turn listed. For each unit under his command, roll a D6. If the result is a 1 or 2, the unit enters on that turn. If the unit does not enter, roll again on the following turn, with a roll of 1 to 4 indicating success. If the unit does not arrive on the second turn, it will automatically arrive on the following turn. Units may enter in any order. 2. Roberts acts as field commander until Canby arrives. He may not give a bonus to any Regular Army unit except for the Escort Battalion. When Canby arrives, he becomes field commander, but he may not give a bonus to any New Mexico unit. either volunteer or militia. 3. The ‘Escort Battalion’ was made up of the three unattached regular infantry companies, as well as the one company of the 5th New Mexico. 4. The Union Army is considered as normal, so it will stop attacking at 40% losses, and retreat at 60% losses. The point value of Union forces is as follows:
