Charlie Sharp has written yet another in his ongoing series of WW II USSR OBs, this one covering the rifle divisions formed from 1942 - 1945. This 148-page tape-bound paperback begins with a glossary and a two-page description of the development of the rifle division from 1942 on. The next 132 pages provide capsule histories of approximately (I may've miscounted) 264 rifle divisions. The histories range from 3-liners to full-page writeups that include subunit lists of regiments and battalions belonging to the divisions. The book winds up with a by-unit index, a welcome feature, and a ten page description of divisional organizations. These are especially welcome, including, as they do, troop and equipment lists down to the platoon or battery level, and sometimes down to the squad. All in all, a good read (well, a good study, anyway...) and well-priced at $19.95 at your FLGS or if they can't obtain it, directly from the publisher, George Nafziger, at PO Box 1522, West Chester, OH 45069-1522.
