Received from Quality Castings is a range of Pz IIIs including the Pz IIIE, F, J with either short or long 50mm gun, L, M with skirts, N, Flammpanzer III, and Pz IIIJ Beob (artillery FO vehicle). Once again, careful planning has allowed QC to produce an entire range of vehicles that, like their prototypes, enjoy a wide commonality of parts. Detailing is up to normal QC standards, which is to say, it's precise, fine, and plentiful. Full stowage is carried, as well as a bedroll/tarp on one fender. The L's spaced hull armor is well captured, as is that on the gun mantle. As is standard with new QC models, optional open and closed commander's copulas are provided, as is a tank commander half-figure to occupy the open copula. Dimensionally, the Pz III comes quite close to QC's claimed 1/108th scale. That is, the Bellona Print (Series 32) places the model at 6% under-scale while the Squadron/Signal Pz III book (Armor in Action 24) places it at 5% over-scale, so things seem to average out. In either case, the model seem's just a bit tall (possibly from the way I assembled it), mainly in the track area. All in all, a very nice model, priced at $6.25, or at $15.75 for three. Available from your FLGS or, failing that, directly from Quality Castings at PO Box 11714, Alexandria, VA 22312. More Reviews
