Regiment is a new magazine from Argus, a full-size glossy with lots of 4-color illustrations. Each issue is intended to provide a pictorial record of a particular unit, most from the British army. The first issue covers the Life Guards, with the Blues and Royals scheduled next. Coverage is divided into articles on current ceremonial appearance, coverage of each century of the regi-ment's existence, an extensive treatment of current uniforms and a page or so on modem non-ceremonial duties. Alternate Worlds is another new magazine, this one devoted to the treatment of alternative outcomes given some hypothetical alteration in history. The first issue contains a summary of a panel discussion at an SF convention, a 17-page list of stories dealing with alternative histories, a (shorter) similar list of stories and background material for a possible WWII German invasion of England, followed by accounts of how three books treated the subject, and a requested letter from Paddy Griffith summarizing the results of a game on the topic he ran in 1974. Age of Napoleon, from Partizan Press, is an expanded glossy version of their Notes & Queries series. Number 12 has the first part of an article on Croatia and the Habsburg military frontier, the second part of a study of British and French cavalry 1808 1814, an account of a reenactment group using Congreve's rockets in the TV version of Shape's Enemy, an account of the Portuguese army in the Peninsula, Paddy Griffith arguing that our views of the Napoleonic Wars are structured by the different source materials available for British and Continental tactical practices, and a queries and answers section.40 pp. $42/6 issues. Colonial Conquest, covering Colonial era history and war-garning, is now being published by Partizan Press. Issue 5 has an three articles on the French Foreign Legion, a set of rules for games with the Legion, a construction article on Fort Zindemenf, Legion vs Arab scenarios, an Anglo-Zulu role-playing wargame, and a review of films based on the Matabele wars. 32 pp. $42/ 6 issues. Wargamer's Video Network. This is an interesting ap-proach to wargame magazines with much potential. Each issue is a 1 hour video tape of products, games, interviews with wargame personalities, and overviews of various conventions. Worth a look. $51 for 6 issues WVN, 1505 Kennedy, York, NE 68467
