HMGS Cold Wars '94

Largest Ever


Bob Watts and his committee are to be congratulated -- running a little later than is usual (March 11-13), Cold Wars '94 brought in over 1200 people not counting dealers and guests! 146 games were scheduled besides the 7th Edition WRG, DBM and DBA Tourneys run by The North American society of Ancient and Medieval Wargaming (NASAMW).

The Tournament results were as follows:

  • Sportsman - Tim Burke 25mm
  • NTCT - James White/Kevin Hart, Late Romans
  • 15mm NCTC -Joey Miller/Brett Steifel, Ghaznavid
  • 25mm Theme -Rich Kroupa, Swiss
  • 15mm Theme - Tim Brown, Swiss
  • Mini Open - Dick Hurchanick, Prussian
  • DBM - Dave Moore, Attalid Pergamene
  • DBA 25mm - Rob Torres, E. Russian
  • DBA Biblical - Dave Eggcerges, Neo Assyrian
  • DBA Classical - Craig Caton, Indian
  • DBA Dark Age - Jay Stone, Ghaznavid
  • DBA Medieval - Jim Dundorf, War of the Roses
  • 25mm Best Painted - Tom Thomas, 100 Yrs War English
  • 15mm Best Painted - Wayne Melnick, Han Chinese
  • Best Terrain - Jake Kovel & Tom Hamilton

Something new this year was the HMGS Military History Forum conceived by Jim Birdseye, this well attended affair boasted of 12 lectures by well know historians and students of Military Tactics and Strategy. The all day event included a breakfast and luncheon on the day of the meeting and a reception and dinner the evening before. The Proceedings are available from Jim Birdseye, 3422 Kerri Place, Augusta GA, 30909 for $5 plus postage. Jim will soon issue a call for papers to repeat this next year
