RUSSIAN BRIEFING1. You, General Chuikov, command the 12th Infantry Division, but you are also the Force Commander and so have General Paskievich's 26th Infantry Division and some cavalry under your orders. 2. You defeated an enemy division on the River Pripet to the East of the town of MOZYR two days ago which retreated to the North East. Yesterday you reorganised and reformed your troops and attended to the dead and wounded, then moved to the town of STRAPETE 14 miles from MOZYR and bivouacked for the night. You placed 2nd Brigade less artillery) and 1st St. Petersburg Opoloczenie plus the Iziumsk Hussars at SVIATOY KRISTOFF (see map 3) which is 2.4 kilometres to the East to guard against the return of the enemy. 3. In accordance with the orders previously given you intend today to move South West and attack the main French body at MOZYR in the rear while the troops of your Commander in Chief attack their front. 4. The troops under you command at STRAPETE are detailed on the Order of Battle (Orbat) below and consist of three brigades of Regular Infantry, two brigades of Militia, and two brigades of Opoloczenie, and two brigades of cavalry from which you have detached the troops mentioned in para 2. They possess three batteries of artillery. 5. It is now 0800 hrs on the 24th July and, to your surprise, musketry rattles up and down the line of your picquets to the West, and a French force is seen approaching along the road from MOZYR. 6. Your Force is still bivouacked. All brigades possessing artillery are on the West slopes and the 4th, 8th & 9th Brigades on the East slopes.
NOTES1. 12 Division occupies VIELKI VYSOTA and 26 Division is on MALI VYSOTA. 2. East slopes are just off the table and therefore are not visible to the French. 3. The weather is hot and sultry. There is no wind and the stream beds are dried up. 4. You have no rifle armed troops.
