1. Leuthen Day Wargame Cancelled I regret to report that I had to cancel this year's Leuthen Day Wargame. A combination of logistical factors, wargame burnout and personal business led to my decision to postpone the game. I want to thank Mark Kostro, Eugene Wzorek and Steve Lawrence, among others, for volunteering to help out. I do plan to continue holding an annual SYW mega-game once my schedule clears up. If not during mid-year, there will definitely be another Leuthen Day next fall.

2. 11th Annual SYWA Convention. Herb Gundt has forwarded the following information about this year's convention:

"The 11th Annual SYWA Convention will be held at the South Bend Holiday Inn-Downtown, located at 213 West Washington St. in South Bend, Indiana on March 18 & 19, 1994. Hotel reservations can be made by calling the Holiday Inn - Downtown at (219) 2323941 and be sure to mention the SYWA (cost of the gaming and vendor area is directly related to the number of hotel rooms used by the SYWA)."

"The convention will start at 6:00 PM. (eastern time) on Friday March 18, 1994. The convention site is on the 6th floor of the hotel with easy drive-up access for vendors and game judges. The traditional banquet will take place, as usual, on Saturday evening. As an aside, the Holiday Inn-Downtown is in the tallest building in the center of downtown South Bend."

"I (Herb) would also like to hear from anyone interested in running a game. As of late September, I have talked with Jim Purky, Tod Kershner, Bob Marshall, Dean West, Mike Schundler and Chris Engle about game judging. Furthermore, I don not have the telephone numbers or addresses of everyone who put on a game last year and may need some help in this area. Also, at this time, the vendor list includes RSM Ltd., The Elite Group, Wargames Inc., Nineteenth Century Miniatures, Soldiers & Swords, and possibly Adventure Games Plus and Eagle-Bicorne Miniatures.

SYWA members are encouraged to pre-register for the SYWA Convention. The cost for admission to the convention for gaming is $10.00 (for 1 or 2 days) and for the banquet $20.00. All prices are the same as last year's convention, including any special considerations. Hope to see everyone there!"

3. The Christopher Duffy Tour of SYW Battlefield Sites. Approximately 35 members have signed up for this chance-of-a-lifetime tour of SYW sites in the Czech Republic and Germany. Tour plans were finalized much quicker than expected as Professor Duffy announced his plans, at HISTORICON 1993, to hold the tour from April 24 to May 1, 1994. Eight people expressed a strong interest in the tour, at Historicon, and numerous other inqueries were received by your editor after a mass-mailing announcement in August. By September, we had received deposits and firm commitments from 18 members in the USA and 17 more from members in Europe. Professor Duffy had not expected such an overwhelming response to his tour concept, so some last minute changes were made in the schedule to accomodate the larger group. As of now, USA members will meet the European contingent in Berlin, where the tour will begin and end, while a number of UK members will depart from London. Professor Duffy plans to lead us to Lobositz, Prague, Kolin,Hochkirch, Maxen, Freiburg, and Torgau to revel in the glories of Alte Fritz (a.k.a "the bad guy"), plus side trips to Dresden and Potsdam, where we will tour Frederick's palace of Sans Souci. I know that Tod Kershner and Brian Vizek, among others, plan to bring their video cameras to record events, and undoubtedly they will be willing to show film at a future SYWA convention.
