The Battlefield Trust in the UK is now fulfilling its mission statement by creating a full-time post for a UK-wide, Battlefield Project Officer. Michael Rayner reports that Lottery funding has been secured for this appointment and advertisement in the national press. The Trustees will soon be selecting and then interviewing candidates to employ a suitable person on a fixed two-year contract to:
This is the first move by the Trustees to put the operation of the Trust onto a more professional footing. By creating and monitoring a full-time employee it is hoped to see both the Trust and Battlefields gain substantially higher national and local profiles. Although this item has no current relation to matters Waterloo it has been included for general information as the Trusts objectives are in the interests of battlefield preservation.
