Plan A: Napoleon's Concept of Operations 15 October 1806 This exemplifies the 'battalion carre' concept. V and VII Corps fix the enemy around which the rest of the Corps maneuver, concentrating for athe expected battle on 16 October at Erfurt. The location of the enemy and thus, the timing of the battle, were mistaken. Plan B: Jena/Auerstadt 1000hrs 14 October 1806 Hohenlohe's Lost Opportunity. Napoleon encounters the Prussians two days earlier and further east tan anticipated, and is forced to concentrate on the battlefield. Lannes V Corps takes the brunt of early fighting as other Corps arrive piecemeal. Hohenlohe, had he acted quickly and with dtermination, could have destroyed Lannes as he deployed.
