The Nelson Decade commemorates the major bicentenaries of Nelson's greatest battles and achievements, culminating in a grand celebration across the whole country on Trafalgar Day 2005. The Decade was launched in 1995 by the Official Nelson Celebrations Committee (ONCC), chaired by Admiral of the Fleet Lord Lewin. The committee represents the main interested parties, notably The 1805 Club, the National Maritime Museum, The Nelson Society, the Royal Navy, the Royal Naval Museum and the Society for Nautical Research.
