Publisher: Greenhill Books £19.95: ISBN 1-85367-183-5 Despite the strange title - Napoleon & Iberia - sorry I don't see the connection to clearly, the sub-title might have been more appropriate - this is another excellent piece of work. Whilst concentrating on the two sieges mention, there are excellent accounts of the Battle on the Coa, the Action at Villar de Puer-co, and the Action at Gallegos. Most impressive are the recent aerial photographs of the forts, which show how little has changed in 180 years. Other sites, such as those of the three engagements mentioned above are also photographed. Maps of these actions and the sieges are also included and are clear and con-cise. Massena obviously is prominent throughout, and of course if you have access to the late Prince and Princess d'Essling's archives and the current 7th Prince d'Essling you are going to get a good feel for your subject. It shows and the book is fascinating. Well done to the author this is a "must have" book. More Reviews
