Publisher: Greenhill Books £19.50: ISBN 1-85367-182-7 A triumph indeed! Uffindell's new work concentrates on the Battle of Ligny in exceptional detail and for students of the Waterloo Campaign it is an essential purchase. On the down side, the orders of battle provided could have been more detail, unit names but no unit strengths, divisional totals being preferred. Also the presentation of the bar-charts used in analysis is pretty amateurish. Come on Greenhill, don't spoil the ship for half-penneth of tar! The opening of the campaign, Quatre Bras and the 18th of June are also covered but in lesser detail after all this a book about Ligny. A fascinating tour of the battlefield, describing key aspects of the Prussian and French positions, is an invaluable included asset. As are the extracts from The Times and eye-witness accounts of D'Erlon's travels. Highly Recommended. More Reviews
