Review by Curt Campbell
For this issue I was happy to find in the mail some new packages, a group of Zouaves from FIRING LINE's Steven Phillips and a passel of Reb cavalry with shotguns from Neville Carre at Wargames Foundry. The Zouaves are sold singly with fez and turban in various loading and firing poses Firing Line offers these figures with separate heads so a wide variation can be easily achieved for a unit. These are very nice models with good animation and reasonably clean detail. They require little cleaning, though one must be careful when trimming their necks for assembly as overzealous knifework may inadvertently remove the fez tassels. The castings are quite slender and are not as hefty as Foundry's ACW models (not as much hardtack I guess), but they would look great mixed together with Redoubt's line. I really like the firing figure in the crouching pose, especially the way he's 'tucked' into the position and the way his baggy trousers drape (sort of like those kids you see at 7-11 with the long wallet chains and day-glo hair... ). The final clincher for making these figures a success is the price: $1.00US per casting - a superb value. More Reviews:
