New from Wargames Foundry are their mounted ACW Generals. Two packs contain Confederate and Union commanders respectively. The Union group ACWCav4X is made up of McClellan, Meade, Grant and Sherman while the Confederates ACWCav5X are composed of Lee, Jackson, Stuart and Hood. No bones about it; these are the real deal. No more pointing to a 'generic' mounted figure on the board, shrugging and saying, "We'll call that McClellan."

These look like the personalities they set to portray: Little Mac's boyish good looks, Meade's owlish scowl, Sherman's focused gaze, and Stuart's impressive whiskers... I especially like the austere Jackson, in his famous raincoat, looking at his open pocket watch (I wonder if I could replace it with a lemon?). In the midst of all of these upper echelon Army commanders I somewhat question the choice of John Bell Hood as a subject. While he's certainly interesting, and a renowned fire-eater, I would have liked instead to see Longstreet, or perhaps the much maligned Braxton Bragg. Also, while I'm making up my wish list, I'd like to see some units and personalities from the Western campaigns (Louisiana Tigers, Confederate clad Indians, etc). Those Eastern boys get all the press it seems... No matter, if you do ACW in large 25mm, these command figures are a must.
