1803… Pawnee raid Comanche villages trying to obtain horses
1805… Comanche sign a lasting peace agreement with the Kiowa and Kiowa Apache
1806….Kaw/Kansa vs Pawnee and Osage raiders
1807…..Mississippi Choctaws vs Osage in Missouri and Caddo in East Texas.
1811….Arkansas Cherokee vs Osage in Missouri
1812…Osage vs Americans in Missouri
1816…Comanche + Kiowa raid Pawnee, Apache, Navajo and Ute villages
1817…Arkansas Cherokees vs Osage raiders
1817-21…Kiowa vs Spanish in Texas but not New Mexico
1820’s… Cheyenne vs Pawnee in the east and Utes in the west.
1821….Comanche vs Osage
1823…Osage vs Wichita and Caddo
1824…Comanche and Wichita (2000) encounter Osage at some point along the Arkansas River. An extended battle occurs with the Comanche forces withdrawing.
1825…Rio Grande War. A series of raids by Comanche on Mexican towns and troops
1829…Arkansas Cherokee attack Tawakon villages on the Brazos in East Texas
1829…Cheyenne vs Comanche under Buffalo Hump. Cheyenne used guns to defeat the Comanches who had mainly bows.
1830s-1870s…Continuous raids and ambushes between the Comanche and Texas Rangers. Most are small in scale involving less the twenty men per side.
1830…Cheyenne vs a Pawnee raiding party.
1832…A mounted Comanche war party annihilates a large foot Pawnee raiding force.
1833…Osage vs Arkansas Cherokee who are reinforced by recently migrated warriors.
1837….Battle of Washita River. A Cheyenne war party (48) of the Bow String Society is annihilated by Comanche and Kiowa warriors.
1838…Battle of Wolf Creek. Cheyenne vs Comanche +Kiowa. This is a planned assault by consolidated Cheyenne force in revenge for the annihilation of the Bow String warrior society war party. It is one of the best recorded massive battles between Native nations
1839…Battle of Otter Creek. Osage vs Kiowa. Kiowa were defeated.
1840… Comanche + Kiowa and Cheyenne + Arapaho tribes sign a peace treaty
1840…Buffalo Hump Expedition. Comanche (500) under Buffalo Hump raid into Texas and reach the Gulf of Mexico. On their return trip, a mixed force of Texas Rangers and volunteers defeats them
1847…Santa Fe Trail raids. Several supply trains and army forts are attacked. Raiders include war parties from the Cheyenne, Arapaho and Kiowa. A significant battle occurs at Fort Mann between the US Army and Pawnee.
1850….Comanche hunting party (250) encounter Apache hunters (150). This battle is an example of how enemy tribes would attack each other even if they were not officially at war. An American captive recorded the battle. It raged for several hours and involved mainly distance firing, though some melees using lances and warclubs did occur. The focal point was to control a ridge that dominated the surrounding terrain.
1853….Cheyenne + Arapaho + Dakota + Kiowa vs a much smaller force of Eastern Indians (Shawnees + Potawatomis) on the Upper Republican River. The Plains tribes had almost no guns and are defeated by the Eastern warriors who all carried guns.
1854…Cheyenne + Osage (1500) vs Eastern Indians (Fox + Sauk + Potawatomis) at Pawnee Ford on the Arkansas River. The Plains tribes are defeated.
1858… Texas Rangers attack Comanche villages at Little Rose Creek in Oklahoma
1858…Texas Rangers attack Comanche villages at Rush Springs
1859… Texas Rangers attack Comanche villages at Crooked Creek Kansas
1860…In July US Army vs Comanche + Cheyenne + Kiowa + Arapaho
1860 ??…Texas Ranchers (30) vs Kickapoos (20). Skirmishes involving a long pursuit.
1860-65…Comanche raid Confederate (CSA) outposts in Texas
1862…Comanche + Delaware + Shawnee + USA advisors attack CSA + Tonkawa allies at the Wichita Agency in Oklahoma. Many Tonkawa are killed.
1864…First Battle of Adobe Wells. USA troops under Kit Carson + Ute and Jicarilla Apache scouts engage a combined force of Comanche and Kiowa.
1865-1866… Comanche + Kiowa raiders attack USA troops in Northern & Western Tx.
1867…Battle of Plum Creek. Pawnee US Army scouts attack a Cheyenne village.
1868…Dec 25th US Army + Volunteers attack a Comanche village at Soldier Springs Tx
1868 …Battle of Beecher’s Island. Cheyenne vs
1871… Second Battle of Adobe Wells. Buffalo Hunters (23) hold off a combined attack of Comanche + Cheyenne.
1874…Red River War, AKA Buffalo War. US Army defeats a Cheyenne force at McClellan’s Creek in early Sept. In late Sept Comanche forces are defeated at Palo Duro Canyon.
