Sept 1779. Baton Rouge LA. A Spanish force captures the British posts on the Mississippi River. These posts were unaware that war had been declared and offered little resistance. The Spanish force consisted of the Louisiana Rgt (500), American Dragoons (20), a white militia company (60), a Black militia company (80), Indians from Louisiana (160) and Patriot traders (7). March 1780. Mobile AL. After difficulties in establishing siege works, the Spanish manage to blow gaps in the wall of the British fort. The fort surrenders after a releiving force from Pensacola is delayed by bad weather. The Spanish force consists of over 1300 men against the British garrison of about 300 men. The releif force consisted of about 1100 men. Mar 1780- May 1781. Mobile AL area. Throughout the Spanish occupation of Mobile until the fall of Pensacola, numerous ambushes were conducted on their foraging groups and scouts by pro-British Choctaw and Creek warparties. May 26 1780. St Louis, MO. A British force from Canada including 300 regulars, militia plus 750 Indians attack the Spanish post at St Louis. The Spanish force includes regulars from Louisiana Rgt (29) and St Louis Militia (280) plus some Patriot traders. Jan 2 1781. St Joseph. The Spanish force included 65 men vs 60 Indians Jan 7 1781. The Village-Mobile AL. The secondary fortifications located on the east side of Mobile Bay are referred to as "The Village". A major British assault is barely repelled. The British defeat is partly due to the loss of nearly every officer in the command. The British force included Waldeck Rgt (60), 60th Ft Rgt (100), West Florida Foresters, Maryland/Pennsylvannia Loyalist, Choctaw and Creek Indians (300 est), and two 4 pdr cannon. The isolated Spanish garrison included eight cannon of various sizes with naval gun crews (60), New Orleans Negro Militia company (40) and a company from the Espana Rgt (40) Mar 1781. Pensacola FL. Despite facing a superior Spanish force, the British garrison held out until a magazine in a primary fortification explodes. Numerous British sorties were conducted to impede the progress of the Spanish siege works. 1780s. New Mexico-Arizona area. The Spanish Governor of Mexico is in a war with Apache tribes of the area and conduct several expeditions. These operations reduces the amount of support that he can lend to Gen Galvez. 1792. Balize Station. The Negro and Pardos militia companies (about 200 men) attack the base and headquarters of the French pirates located in Louisiana.
