Pre-1600 Lenape vs Susquehannock. Over Wampum trade. 1609 Susquehannock vs Dutch. The Susquehannock attacked Hudson's ship in Sept. and again in Oct. The Sept. fight was between canoes and men in the ship's boat. 1607-17 TARRATEEN WAR : Penobscot Confederation vs Micmac + Maliseet. War ended when the Penobscot leader Bashaba was KIA. 1610s Pequot vs Mattabesic + Nipmuc 1613 Micmac vs Beothuk 1616-17 Micmac vs Abenaki. In Maine. 1622 Pequot vs Mattabesic 1622-35 Pequot + Niantic vs Narragansett. Raids over who would control the tribes which produced wampum. 1622-3 Pequot vs Mettoac. Raids to obtain Wampum for trade to the Europeans. 1626 Minqua/Susquehannock vs Unami/Delaware + Unalactigo/Delaware. Lenapes outnumbered the Susquehannocks 3 to 1. 1630-35 Lenape vs Susquehannocks. Fought in SE Pennsylvania. The Swedes gave guns/metal to the Susquehannocks which offset their being outnumbered. They pushed the Lenapes out of Pennsylvannia across the Delaware River into New Jersey. 1631 Unalactigo/Lenape vs Dutch. Lenapes raid Swandendael and all 32 settlers. 1631 Sickoneysinck/Lenape ? vs Dutch. Fought on Staten Island. 1632 Narragansett vs Wampanoag 1635 Erie vs Algonkin 1636-8 PEQUOT WAR : Pequot + Niantic vs English + Mohegan + Narragansett. Raids in 1636 with a major Pequot attack on Wethersfield, Conn. in 1637. English destroyed the Pequot capital at Mystic. No quarter skirmishes occurred with fleeing Pequot groups after the battle at Mystic. 1638 Mohegan vs Mattabesic + Nipmuc 1640 PIG WAR : Raritan/Lenape vs Dutch. Fought on Staten island 1640 Metoac vs Raritan. A few Metoac warriors raid looking for bounty scalps 1640s Susquehannock vs Ohio Valley. The Susquehannock may have been responsible for the extermination or more likely forced migration of the early inhabitants of the Ohio Valley. 1641 Neutrals vs Mascouten. Neutrals destroyed Asistagueronon, a Mascouten town. 1642-43 Mahican vs Wecquaesgeek/Wappinger 1642 WHISKEY WAR: Hackensack vs Dutch 1642-50 Sokoki vs Montagnais 1643-45 WAPPINGER WAR (AKA Governor Kieft's War): Wappinger+ Tappan + Sintsink + Matinecock + Haverstraw/Lenape + Siwanoy + Raritan/Lenape + Navasink + Rockaway + Merrick + Hackensack/Lenape + Metoac + Massapequa vs Dutch. An estimated 1500 warriors against 250 Dutch. The Dutch received aid, mercenaries, from the English (150 men) and Mohegan (50+ warriors). The Wappinger alliance was defeated piecemeal. 1643 Mohegan vs Narragansett + Pocumtuc + Tunkis/Mattabesic. Major battle occurred as the alliance attacked the Mohegan capital at Shetucket. The alliance lost after its C-n-C, Miontonimo, was captured. 1645 Metoac vs Wappinger 1653-54 Narragansett + Niantic vs Montauk/Metoac. Raids on the Metoac for Wampum. 1653-55 Erie vs Ottawa 1654 Mohegan vs Mattabesic. The Massaco/Mattabesic were conquered. 1655 PEACH WAR. Wappinger vs Dutch. Dutch farmer killed a local Wappinger for eating a peach off of "his" tree. Over 200 Wappinger warriors raided Dutch settlements. At least 50 Dutchmen were killed. 1657 Esopus vs Dutch 1658 Metoac vs Dutch. Skirmishes and raids on Long Island. 1658-59 Pocumtuc + Mattabesic vs Mohegan. Mattabesic scattered with many merging with the Abenaki. 1658-61 LENAPE WAR. Lenape vs English. Fought mainly in Maryland. 1659-60 FIRST ESOPUS WAR. Munsee/Lenape vsDutch. Fought in the Esopus River Valley. Munsee besieged several farm-forts until the forts were releived by a 200 man force from New Amsterdam. 1660 Dutch Offensive against Munsee. Dutch victorious at the Battle of Wiltmeet. 1663-64 SECOND ESOPUS WAR. Munsee vs Dutch + Massapequa + Metoac. Battle of Wiltwyck in June 1663. The 3rd Creiger Expedition produced a Dutch victory. 1675-76 KING PHILLIP'S WAR. Wampanoag + Pocumtuc + Nipmuc + Massachusetts (only a few others joined the English) + Podunk/Mattabesic + Androscoggin/Abenaki +` Penobscot (later) + Kennebec (later). This vast alliance of native nations (though many had been reduced in size due to disease and warfare) was united under the leadership of King Phillip. The Narragansett and Pennacook were neutral until attacked (without cause) by an English force. The English allies included Mohegan and refugee Pequots (living with the Mohegans) + scouts provided by several small tribes. 1675 Conoy vs Susquehannock. 1688-97 KING WILLIAM'S WAR. Pro-French nations include Sokoki, Abenaki, Pennacook 1691 Penobscot only vs English. A Raid on York, Maine. 1693 Penobscot + Saco + Kennebec + Androscoggin/Abenaki vs English 1697 Sokoki vs British. A raid on Boston, Mass. 1699 Sokoki finally signs a treaty with the British. 1701-13 QUEEN ANNE'S WAR 1704 Sokoki raid Deerfield, Mass.(Feb 29) half of the houses burned. British attack Cowasuck village. 1708 Sokoki destroy Haverhill, Mass. 1709 Sokoki raid Deerfield, Mass. The Sokoki are replused. British raid Ossipee towns. 1713 Sokoki raid Haverhill, Mass. 1722 Abenaki vs English colony of Massachusetts Bay. The English declared war. 1722-25 DRUMMER'S WAR or English-Indian War or Rale's/Rasles War. English Garrison in Nova Scotia vs Micmac + Kennebec + Pigwacket + a few French rebels. English column destroys Norridgewock on the Kennebec River and kills the main French leader in 1724. The war was fought mainly in Nova Scotia and Maine. The defeated Kennebec and Pigwacket migrated to Quebec. 1723-27 GREY LOCKE'S WAR. An isolated Pocumtuc band under Wawanotewat (Grey Locke) raided western new England from his base near Missisquoi. 1724 Micmac vs British. A force of 50 Micmac warriors vs British garrison at Annapolis Royal. This results in the first of a series of bounties offered by the British for Micmac scalps. 1744-48 KING GEORGE'S WAR. French + allies vs British + allies. Penobscot + Kennebec + Passaquodoy (all Abenaki) vs British in Massachusetts Micmac + Maliseet/Abenaki vs British in Maine and Nova Scotia Sokoki + Caughnawaga vs British in Vermont and New Hampshire 1746 Sokoki + other Abenaki vs British. The Sokoki conduct over 35 raids in New England 1744-1779 MICMAC WAR.Micmac vs British in Maine and Nova Scotia. Micmac skirmish various British Ranger companies throughout the war. In 1747 the Micmac wipe out British garrison at Grand Pre. In 1748 the Micmac refuse to stop raids after the war ends in Europe. In 1749 the battles at Chebucto and Canso. In 1750 the Cobb expedition attempts to destroy Micmac towns. In 1752 the British Ranger companies of Clapham and Bartelo are created to fight Micmac in Nova Soctia. From 1755-61 the Micmac received support overtly from local Frenchmen (Acadians). In 1760 Roger's Rangers were employed against the Micmac in the upper St. John's River area. 1747 St Franceois Town vs British. Raids on British settlements 1748 Mahican + Wappinger + English vs French at Schenectady New York 1752 Abenaki vs British. Settlements raided after an Abenaki hunter was murdered. 1754 FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR : St Franceois + Missisquoi vs British. in New York Penobscot vs British in Maine- Massachusetts. Bounty offered for Penobscot scalps. St John's tribes + Abenaki raid British Settlements until 1770. 1755 St Franceois Town + Abenaki vs Mahican. The Mahican capital at Schaghticoke burned and numerous captives taken to Canada. 1756 Stockbridge/Mahican provide 45 warriors to serve with Roger's Rangers. 1757-58 Munsee vs British. Raids in the western New York and Northern Delaware areas. 1759 British vs St Franceois. Roger's Rangers burn the town. 1760-62 300 Mahican + Munsee + Wappinger serve with British forces 1775-83 AMERICAN REVOLUTION: Native Nations served primarily with the British. A few, Oneida + Nimham/Wappinger + Stockbridge/Mahican + Maliseet + Micmac + Penobscot, supported the Patriots in the Northeast. Col John Allen's Light infantry Abenaki Regiment guarded the Maine coast. 1812-1815 WAR OF 1812 : Native Nations served primarily with the British. A few, Oneida + Nimham/Wappinger + Stockbridge/Mahican, supported the USA in the Northeast. Most of the tribes involved in the fighting are listed under the Ohio Valley section. 1812 Two Abenaki companies fought for the British at Becancour. 1812 Algonkin companies fought for the British at Chateauguay.
