Battle of Troy

Battle 1

By Stuart Wilson

Using Hordes of Things

Trojans

One +1 hero (Hector), one ordinary hero (Aeneas), one reluctant Paladin with the ability to shoot (Paris) and an overall CinC with body guard, able to defend but not attack (Priam). The Trojans could also call up two of the Gods to help (Aphrodite, Apollo or Ares) but only one could be on table at any time.

Greeks

Two ordinary hero's (Ajax and Menelaus), one Behemoth (Diomedes – large and ferocious) and an overall CinC with body guard but able to attack (Agamemnon). The Greeks also had the ability to call up two of the Gods to help (Athena and Hera) but only one could be on table at any time.

The dice rolling certainly aided the Trojans, Rob (Greek CinC) did not seem to be able to get above single pips for the movement dice. However all credit to the Trojans (Mark & Kenny) to soundly thrashing the Greeks. As a note of interest Hector was driven off table by Ajax – mirroring the Iliad, though Ajax also retired. There was also a note of humour as the Trojans dispelled their own god as the CinC gave a pip dice with a single pip on it to the army with the god in it – this was not to be an isolated incident…..

As a note about the characters in the epic Hector is shown to be a good father and husband a good friend, an honourable man – one who would probably buy his round in the pub and help old ladies across the road. Achilles would be much more likely to leave the pub just before his round and rob the old lady before running her over…..
