This cinematic account of the Alamo is overshadowed by John Wayne's much flashier movie. This version puts Jim Bowie in the lead, with Crockett providing comic relief. There are some good scenes, but for the most part the film is a yawner. History buffs will either laugh or scream at the depiction of the final assault. The attack is led by the Mexican lancers charging the walls of the Alamo carrying ladders! If you can chuckle at scenes like that then you will find the film worth a look. It's currently not available on video, so you'll have to watch for it on cable. More Movie Reviews
