It began Sunday 12 September in Hamburg and we all took the now usual Hafenrundfahrt -- the sightseeing tour of Hamburg Harbor. We had our own boat and it went all through this extensive harbor complex with emphasis on the shipbuilding etc. from the war years. We went as close as possible to the 'Lost Bunker', but since the entire cove area in front of it has been filled in and paved over for use as a container terminal, we could not get too close.

After the Welcome Dinner, some stayed late to continue to drink and enjoy meeting new friends; some went off to the Rehperbahn-- some went to bed - some went to the 'Lost Bunker' to see what they could see- All in all - everyone did what they wanted to do to make this first day in Germany truly memorable.
