The following is the first in a series about The Gamers new release, Afrika. These articles will present a concise history of the major battles fought during the North African Campaign from mid-1940 through 1942, the scope of the Afrika simulation. Each "game as history" article will use the mapsheet and counters to depict the events that made it one of the most dynamic struggles of World War II. Comments in brackets highlight game rules and cases that show how well Afrika presents the situation it simulates.
