United States Marine Corps units at Camp Pendelton and Twenty-Nine Palms have been alerted to move to the Legation Quarter in Beijing. Elements of the 11th Marines ("Cannon Cockers") [Ed. Note: Winners of the 1998 Camp Pendleton football championship officiated by noted naval wargaming enthusiast Steve Thorne, and four others] have moved to the USMC museum in nearby San Diego, CA to secure the International Gun for use in any possible hostilities. Marine commanders initially had difficulty interpreting their orders as they could not find "Peking" on any map. They also found references to the "Imperial Russian" ambassador puzzling. Marine officers were also unaware that the Boxers were still around, let alone threatening foreign dignitaries.
