Napoleonic Calendar:
Chateau Tremblant was the headquarters of Lord Uxbridge, commander of the British cavalry and horse artillery under Wellington during the battle of Waterloo. The building was also the place where Uxbridge's leg was amputated after the battle. The chateau, which is located near the Wellington Museum, has become dilapidated and is under threat of being demolished for re-development. Members of the Association of Friends of the Waterloo Committee want to save the building by converting the ground floor into a museum and study center (emphasizing Lord Uxbridge), while the remaining floors are turned into apartments. This project has the strong support of the current Duke of Wellington, as well as other distinguished individuals and organizations. Anyone who would like to write a letter in support of this plan should send it to: Mr. C. F. Pritchard, Anglesey Lodge, Hednesford, Staffordshire, WS12 5AB, United Kingdom. For further information, write to: John S. White, 2, Coburn Drive, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, B75 5NT, United Kingdom. More Napoleonic Calendar
