Book Summary

An impressive array of visitors to the Saratoga battlefield record their thoughts about the area, the battle, and the times in a mixture of after-the-battle hindsight, anecdotes, and related observations. The thoughts are from former combatants, military officers, society page curiosity seekers, adventurers, and other 18th and 19th century visitors. Some are naive, some awestruck, some insightful, and all very interesting. In addition, numerous factoids and other tidbits pepper the pages for a more complete look at the battle.
