The Complete Guide to Battlefields of Britain, with Ordnance Survey maps by David Smurthwaite. 1994, New Edition with colour maps. A Mermaid Book £ 12.99 UK.

Not a new book but a good 'un - A comprehensive survey of British battlefields - including the sky! (Battle of Britain). The book ranges from the Roman Invasion to the First of the Few. Detailed plans of battles and guides of how to get there and what it is (they are) like now. When he wrote it, David Smurthwaite was Asst. Director and Head of Museum Services at the National Army Museum in London. Obviously a big wodge on Romans and ECW but also a lot on the Wars of the Roses that I hadn't realised lasted so long - not actual fighting but in years, 1450 - 1550. Probably ought to be in most libraries.
