Historical Booklets from The Gauntlet (Craig Martelle, American Embassy Moscow, PSC 77, DTRO-M, APO AE 09721, web site: http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/ClassifiedsCt/gauntlet2/gauntlet.htm). I received the following items, giving history from a Russian point of view. Craig is making available items we didn't have access to during the Cold War. He has quite a bit for sale, write him for a full list or visit his web site.

R1 - The Great Patriotic War of 1812 - Glossy, 20-page booklet, which has contemporary paintings within. There are quite a few nice paintings, described in English and Russian text. This title is only $5.

R12 - The Russian Civil War - The White Armies

R13 - The Russian Civil War - The Red Armies.

Hard cover, Osprey-type format, 46 pages each. These have color drawings and black and white pictures. Although written in Russian, these books are a good source for gaming the Russian Civil War of 1917-22. Each has eight plates of color illustrations with three to five figures on each plate. Translations for the plates and photographs are included, so the gamer wanting to do this period receives plenty of painting information. Each title is only $12.

R26 - The Russian Liberation Army of World War II - Hard cover, Osprey-type format, 46 pages. It has color drawings and black and white pictures. This book is in the same format as the civil war books, above. Again, Russian text, but Craig has translated the captions into English. Eight pages of well done color plates, with three to five figures on each plate. Again, only $12.

R28 - Red Army Tank Camouflage 1930-45 - Here it is, the Russian equivalent to Squadron's Panzer Colors! This 56-page glossy contains 149 black and white photos, along with color illustrations. There is even a section on slogans! This highly recommended title is completely in English, and sells for only $12!

R42 - Napoleon Bonaparte - The Russian view of The Ogre. This is a soft cover, 64-page glossy, which shows some of the holdings of the Russian National Museum taken during Napoleon's campaigns. Has many pictures of uniforms and weapons, and many paintings in color as well. The text is in both Russian and English. $10.

R50 - Soviet Joseph Stalin Tanks - 48 pages, laid out like a "Squadron In Action" book. This is worth the $10 price tag! Many black and white photos, color illustrations, and line drawings -- and all in English! If you are looking for information regarding the IS series of tanks, this is it!
