by Steven J. Zaloga. From Arms and Armor Press. "This book examines the camouflage painting and insignia used on armoured vehicles of the combatant powers during the campaigns at the beginning of the war in Europe in 1939 and 1940." Even though the book has the above focus, with more than 300 illustrations (including 61 full-color vehicle paintings and 108 insignia) it is also of great use to gamers of the period. Each country involved, including Belgium and Poland, has a section detailing their vehicles through text and captioned pictures. These show many vehicles not normally seen in books about this period. I have used these pictures to scratch-build several tanks. Also included are tank inventory and order of battle lists. This 96-page, 8.5" x 11.25" paperback has a large amount of information for both the model builder and gamer. My copy was purchased in London for 8.99 pounds. Available through Villiers House, 41-47 Strand, London WC2N 5JE, England. (Editor's Note: This review also appeared in The Herald #16, but George urged me to run it again since it is so useful).
