In the two years since my article "War Plans and the 1941 Kremlin Wargame" first appeared in the Journal of Strategic Studies, the USSR has released an enormous amount of new information about the war. Fortunately, much of this material merely confirms the basic conclusions of my original article. It has now been incorporated into my forthcoming book, tentatively entitled Soviet Strategy in the Great Patriotic War. At the request of Winston Hamilton, I agreed to revise this older article to share with the readers of TEN. To update the article and keep its enormous length under control, I have deleted the original references to the debate regarding B. Fugate's book Operation Barbarossa (Novato, 1984). I have done this for two reasons. First and foremost, I believe by now the Soviet portions of that book have been thoroughly discredited. However, to assist the reader I have retained the point by point review of the Fugate errors. If readers are interested in the other participants in the original debate, I would refer them to my 1987 article. Secondly, in Europa terms, the results of this article merit some conclusions. These I have included as new closing paragraphs.
