March 1999, pp.41, the three wars happening in Columbia and covered in this booklet are; Drug Criminals, Guerrillas and Paramilitary groups, as with all SSI booklets they give a concise description of the subject matter which is helpful and relative to the researcher. Report on Bolivia 1827, by Joseph Barclay Pentland, edited by J. Valerie Fifer, pub. Camden Miscellany, Vol. XXV, London 1974, pp.169-267, 3 maps, this is the third chapter in the book the other two do not relate to Latin America, saw this book 25 years ago noting that there were a few pages on the military and recent history 1825-27 which made it worth remembering until I could find a copy going cheap. The Ironclad Pirate; The Huascar Incident 1877, by Peter Colbeck, pub. Battlefields magazine, Vol.1, No.7, pp.10-15, illus., interesting if you know nothing about this affair. Centuries in Conflict, by MSGT. Laurie Scott, pub. Soldiers, Vol.52, No.5, May 1997, this is the official U.S. Army magazine, the two page article is an over-view of the Peru-Ecuador border dispute during the 20th century, not much detail here, but a good b/w photograph of Peruvian soldiers on the border. Chili Accuse et met en Garde, pub. Agence de Presse Orbis, Prague 1979, pp.168, contains a number of photographs of the period. GOPE; Groupe des Operations Speciales des Carabiniers Chiliens, by Gilles Rivet, pub. Raids magazine, No.150, November 1998, pp.34-41, good photographs but none on insignia. Forces Armées Chiliennes: L'Ecole de Haute Montagne, by Gilles Rivet, pub. Raids magazine, No.152, January 1999, pp.44-49, no insignia photos. Les Forces Speciales de l'Armée de terre Chilienne, by Gilles Rivet, pub. Raids magazine, No.155, April 1999, pp.20-29, 19 cloth badges illustrated with some good photographs. Javier Lopez, Fotografo de Bate & Cia en la Guerra del Paraguay, by Alberto del Pino Menk, pub. Boletin Historico del Ejercito, No.294, 1997, Montevideo, Uruguay, reproduces 41 photographs by this person of the Paraguayan War, most of which I have not seen before so it is a useful article. The Royal Navy in the River Plate 1806-1807, edited by John D. Grainger, pub. The Navy Records Society, London 1996, pp.366, using official letters and personal diaries of the various participants, a handy cross reference book on these two British Invasions of the region. The American Involvement in the Independence of the Latin American Nations; Captain Paul Delano 1775-1842, by Jorge Andres Delano, pub. Derroteros de la Mar del Sur, Lima 1999, Year 7, No.7, pp.53-67, a helpful account his service in the Chilean Navy with Cochrane through to the War with the Peru-Bolivian Confederation in 1839. Granaderos a Caballo; Uniforme del Regimiento 1812-1820, by Mario Chaves, pub. Master en Modelismo, No.1, April 1985, pp.23-29, article has 2 colour plates. Reforma de la Constitución Nacional, Buenos Aires 1994, covers the various reforms to the 1853, 1866, 1898 and 1957 laws that were replaced in 1994. South Atlantic Conflict of 1982: A Case Study in Military Cohesion, by Nora Kinzer Stewart, pub. U.S. Army, Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences, April 1988, Report No.1469, pp.145, this report would lead to a book on this subject by the author. Falklands; Whose Crisis?, by the Latin American Bureau, Special Brief, London 1982, pp.133, 2 maps, has 3 tables on weapon sales to Argentina 1975-81, very good at the time of publishing, although now most of its opinions and findings have been utilised by many authors in the past 18 years. "Recovery" Of The Falklands: How Not To Get Into A War, by J. J. and M. T. Clark, pub. Military and Naval History Journal, Issue 11, April 2000, pp.63-71, a seven page summary account of events leading up to the invasion of these islands.
