43. HOPTON'S ARMY Judging from the number of Queries we receive regarding this army it would appear to be the one with the most romantic attraction! Either that or the queries are from wargamers who are trying to fabricate an army with the quality of troops and firepower that Wargames Rules Writers endow (erroneously??) on the New Model Army in the first Civil Mar!!! Be that as it may, the editors would be grateful for lists of Regiments, their Ensigns or Cornets and, if possible, coat colours. Also a rough guide to the 'Oxford' army units that may have been attached at varying times. We assume that anyone interested in Hopton has a copy of SIR RALPH HOPTON'S NARRATIVE OF HIS CAMPAIGN IN THE WEST 1642-1644 - the reprint of his 'memoirs'. David S Hawk Other Queries
