As such, the CTV served in the Catalonia Offensive in late 1938-early 1939. and was among the first elements of the Nationalist Army to enter Barcelona when it fell on January 26, 1939. With the loss of Catalonia, the fate of the Republic was sealed, and on April 1 , 1939, it was announced that the Spanish Civil War was over. By the end of the summer of 1939, the last elements of the CTV returned to Italy.leaving most of their equipment behind for forces of the new Spanish government.
