Viking Forge is currently producing an extensive line of 15mm Ancients ranging from Egyptians to Normans with most major Ancients periods in between well covered. These figures were originally sculpted and cast under the Asgard name and have been purchased outright by Viking Forge. In all, 29 different nationalities or armies are covered by 247 individual figures. The figures themselves are cast in a high quality metal with very little flash. The figures sent for review offer nice animation with spears and swords at 45° angles so that breakage due to wear and tear should be minimal. There is enough detail on each figure so that dry brushing will bring out some very good results. I was especially impressed with their elephant which is covered with enough subtle wrinkles to please the most detail oriented painter. Viking Forge also packages boxed armies suitable for WRG 1,000 and 1,500 point forces. On the side of the box is listed the nationality, its WRG list number and the contents of each box so that the consumer will know exactly what he or she is getting. The price of individual figures and boxed sets are very competitive within the current market. In fact, as of this writing, they are less expensive than some major lines of ancient figures. In sum, this is a fine line of miniatures at a highly competitive price. More Reviews
