WEST GERMAN 1:1 1987 KAMPFGRUPPE HQ Element: 2 Marder of M113 and 2 sqds, 2 VW Iltis w/Redeye AAGW, 2 Gepard ADA, 4 Luchs, 4 M113/120mm Mortars, 2 VW Iltis w/MOP Panzer Company: 13 MBT (1 in HQ, 4 in each of 3 plts) Panzergrenadier Company: 11 Marder or M113, 6 Milan ATGW (9 Milan if M113s), and 11 sqds Company AT Platoon: 5 Jaguar HOT ATGW carrier This Kampfgruppe is the equivalent of the American Taskforce, comprising roughly 2/3 of a mixed Panzergrenadier Battalion. The basic force runs $60.00. Using CinC miniatures exclusively, the price drops to $54.75 (prediscount). Substituting ROS brings the price still further down to $45.00. With this force, instead of adding all of the swaps, one can simply buy both the Marders and the M112s, and double the number of infantry elements, and end up with a full mixed Panzergrenadier Battalion! Alternately, doubling the number of tanks in the basic list will give a mixed Panzer Battalion. Again, simply adding all of the swaps doesn't give a bigger force, only more variety for a small one. WEST GERMAN 1:5 1987 PANZERGRENADIER BRIGADE Brigade HQ: 1 Marder, 1 M577, 1 plt Recce Company: 2 Luchs Panzer Battalion: 10 MBT, 1 ARV (3 MBT in each of 3 cos, all else in HQ) 2 Panzergrenadier Battalions, each with: 1 M113/120mm Mortar, 10 Marders, 9 plts, 3 Milan ATGW (3 Marder, 3 plt, 1 Milan ATGW in each of 3 cos, all else in HQ) Artillery Battalion: 1 M577, 3 M109 ATGW Company: 2 Jaguar/HOT ATGW carriers Engineer Company: 3 M113, 3 pit, 1 TPZ Fuchs, 1 AVLB Composite ADA Company: 3 Gepard, 1 Iltis w/Redeye AAGW, 1 Roland AAGW This Brigade is a handful for one player, and could easily be broken into two reasonable forces. The basic list costs $77.50. Substituting CmC drops the cost to about $68.00 (pre-discount). The use of ROS models further reduces the cost to $53.00. The price lists that I have don't show anybody as making a Leopard AVLB; the combination shown basically resembles it.
