The Army of James II:

Uniforms and Organization

by Ken Bunger

By Stephen Ede-Borrett, published by Raider Games. Available for $7.95 from George Nafziger, 8801 Tammy Dr., West Chester, OH 45069.

This 52-page booklet is a fairly thorough presentation of a subject upon which accurate information is very difficult to find.

The booklet is divided into sections on the horse, dragoon, foot and artillery. Eight useful appendices are also included.

The uniforms and regimental colors of each unit are described in detail. Sufficient mention is also made of the accoutrements and small arms. No attempt is made to describe drill or tactics, although the internal organization of the regiments is briefly explained.

There are a few well done black and white drawings of uniforms and weapons, and many excellent ones of various flags. The horse furniture and artillery are not illustrated.

The author has clearly researched his subject very well. He has limited his "guesswork" where precise information is lacking and footnoted these instances. The bibliography is impressive and is quite useful for the reader wishing to begin further research.

This book is absolutely necessary to the wargamer in this period. Highly recommended.
