With the release of many new and old ranges of SYW, AMR and War of 1812 figures, every wargamer should have at least one Fort Ticonderoga. Greenfield Hobby wholesalers have provided an answer for many wargamers. They distribute a Vauban fortress in 20mm scale made from a brittle Styrofoam. It comes in sections which include a two story brick building, five six-inch wall sec tions and five corner bastions. The walls and bastions are two and three quarter inches high. A gate in the shape of an arc can easily be cut in the center of one of the wall sections. By purchasing an extra wall section, a breached section can also be made, as the styrofoam material cuts very easily. The rough stone work is nicely molded. The walls are perpendicular while their lower part slopes away. I painted my model by applying two undercoats of black and then giv ing a lighter coat of grey spray paint. Aim the spray at one angle so it naturally shades the stone work. I drybrushed the brick on the walkways and the building red. The figures garrisoning the model in the photo are 20mm Scruby SYW, but the model's acceptable for 15mm or 25mm. I believe it retails for about fifty dollars. Greenfield also distributes a log fort made from the same material. By all means have your local retailer stock these most useful items. Greenfield Distributors are at 1112 N.
