We have received a number of figures from Dixon Miniatures in England. All of the figures are 25mm Samurai and are typical of Dixon being very stylist with a definite and distinctive flair. All figures tend to be stocky with broad faces and shoulders. Detail is simple and obvious which makes for easy painting, but eliminates the possibility of a flashy, artistic paint job. The detail on the horses is well pronounced and lends itself to basic dry brushing techniques. The same can be said for the armour worn by all of the warriors sent to us although you may want to do much more with Samurai armour. This is what I would consider an "internal line". Because of its unique style it will not fit well with other lines, but is outstanding if you want to build a Samurai army and use Dixon figures exclusively. Overall, this is a solid clean line of figures that are worth looking into if you want to get into Samurai warfare. Rating: Anatomy: (.6), Animation (.6), Detail (.6), Paintability (.8), Casting (.8) Total: 3.4. Dixon Miniatures are available from Soldier World U.S.A., P.O. Box 175, Shrewsbury PA 17361.
