Review:

Dragon Tooth

25mm Fantasy

by Rob Mosca

Some of the most imaginative 25 mm. figure sculpting on the market today comes from Tom Loback's Dragon Tooth Fantasy Figures (150 West 26th St., #502, N.Y.C. 10001 ).

Probably the most impressive is that of Gothmaug, Lord of the Balrogs, an extremely fierce- looking figure with flowing bat-wing cape, fiery hair, an appropriately evil countenance and wielding a huge battle axe and a fire whip. The figure is extremely well sculptured with a good eye toward detail and anatomy. Particularly impressive is the definition of the scaly skin. I would recommend this figure not only for use in fantasy games but as the centerpiece for a "Tolkenesque"diorama.

Other new releases include a rather energetic charging Cyclops weilding a war hammer. The particular stance and muscle definition of the figure is well executed, though on a whole tends to the "chunky" side. The new Winged Snake Demon is a truly spectacular figure, seemingly just conjured from a magic circle, which provides the based stand for the figure and which is engraved with the mystic sign of Solomon, a nice touch of extra detail.

Also available are personality figures of a High Elfin Hero-King resplendent in dragon helm and flowing batlike cape. The figure comes in two positions: mounted on a rearing war horse and standing on foot, sword held high. A welcome addition to any "good folk" fantasy army.
