FIRING LINE 25MM

Napoleonic, Wild West, ACW

Steve Philips of Firing Line Miniatures is now producing his own line of 25MM figures. The company is working on several different periods including Napoleonics, Western Gunfight and American Civil War.

Sent for review were 4 Wurtemburg Napoleonic Light Infantry, 2 ACW and 2 Western Gunfight figures. All of the figures are 25MM Barrett scale and of "light" heft. They appear to fit well with Dixon or Wargames Foundry figures. The detail on all of the figures is crisp with virtually no flash. All of the figures, particularly the ACW, are animated and in a variety of poses. The Wurtemburg Light Infantry wear the pre-1810 horsehair helmet and included an Officer (WN7), Bugler (WN6), Infantryman standing firing (WN1) and Infantryman reaching for cartridge (WN2). The line includes several more light infantry and seven line infantry. The line infantry come with separate heads for grenadiers, officers etc.

The ACW infantry reviewed were AC1B Infantry right shoulder shift and AC8 Advancing, frock coat. These figures are nicely sculpted and animated. The advancing figure is leaning forward with determination. They too, come with a wide variety of interchangeable heads to include kepis, slouch hat or hardee hat to allow for a variety of units and poses.

The two Western Gunfight figures are the beginnings of a new line. WG1 is a gunfighter in a long coat, pulled back over his holster, hand resting just behind his pistol. The other, WG2 "Charlie Younggun", is a rendition of Steve's son firing a shotgun and wearing twin six-shooters! The figure was designed at his son's request. Together they make a nice set. Once again, both figures are clean and crisp with a lot of detail.

Firing Line Miniatures also has begun a line of French and Indian War figures. Currently he has French, British and Colonial figures that we hope to review in the future. The figures sell for $1.00 each and are available from Firing Line Miniatures, 4761 North Bear Canyon, Tucson, AZ 85749. Telephone (520) 749-0703. - TOM DESMOND
