The Risen is a sourcebook for Wraith The Oblivion, the game from White Wolf wherein one plays a restless dead, a ghost, a wraith. Wraiths are full of passions and unworked out anxieties tying them to the material world. Some have passions so strong that they seek to do the forbidden, to come back to the material realm, to become a Walking Dead. The Risen is an 80 page book similar to the classic Mummies sourcebook of a few years back. Here you get the scoop on what it takes to come back and seek ultimate revenge on those you truly hate (or protect those you love or what have you). This isn't a stand alone game in and of itself, you need the main Wraith rulebook to use The Risen to its fullest. You get all the information necessary to start a Risen character from scratch or take your current Wraith character back to the Skinlands. There're two new Arcanoi, some new Merits and Flaws and, of course, the obligatory character sheet and templates. When I first saw this book I thought about what a cool idea it was to let those poor lonely ghost types come back to the land of the living to work out their unresolved problems. There's something cool about running around, knocking off those who pissed off your character while she lived. Normally, wraiths are stuck pranking their tormentors or otherwise ineffectually messing with them. In The Risen, you get to knock through their door while proclaiming, "It's Jaaack!!" Becoming a Risen is not easy, which explains why no one knows about them, and even if successful most fall to Oblivion soon enough in any event. As a matter of fact, most Spectres encourage it.
