Rage: Warriors of the Apocalypse

Game Review

by Jon Compton

Rage: Warriors of the Apocalypse is a compendium of Werewolf. The Apocalypse statistics for WW's Rage Collectible Card Game.

Not being a Rage enthusiast left me a little unprepared for this supplement; I had at first thought it was a Rage supplement, though in fact it is not. If you play either game this book could be useful, though I have to admit that White Wolf's rationale for getting Rage players to shell out $15 for Warriors of the Apocalypse is tenuous: Everything is presented in Werewolf terms. If you play Rage I suppose you could find some enjoyment in seeing your favorite Garou written up with full Werewolf statistics.

It includes descriptions of almost all the characters from not only Rage, but the Umbra, Wyrm, and War of the Amazon supplements as well. It also includes famous and important characters from many of the Werewolf supplements as well. If you want to know about your favorite character, chances are it's here. Warriors of the Apocalypse comes in real handy however if you actually play Werewolf It's a literal rogue's gallery of Garou and Wyrm servants.

Need a few quick allies or a quick random encounter? Flip through here and they'll jump out at you. The history of each of these characters is rife with adventure hooks. The book is set up alphabetically, tribe by tribe. Each character is presented with full Werewolf. The Apocalypse statistics, history, and Rage card art, although this seems to be without the appropriate Rage information (though not having ever played Rage, I wouldn't know; maybe you just flip cards with pictures and names on them at your opponent ... ). With 128 pages, Warriors of the Apocalypse gives you from six to eight members of each Tribe and a plethora of Wyrmspawn, for a total of 137 npcs to draw upon. I recommend it for those beleaguered Storytellers looking for some relief in the npc generating department only.
