This article continues from the last issue an excerpt from the German Report serics prepared by the Department of the Army at the end of World War II. The study was prepared by a group of former German generals and general staff officers. The principal author, who by the end of the war had attained the rank of Generaloberst (General), served on the Eastern Front throughout the Russian campaign and retreat into northern Germany. Bear in mind that the German Report series was written by Germans from the German point of view in light of German combat doctrine and organizations, and prejudices of the authors.
